It was a long weekend, and I hope you got some rest before the race to the end of the year. I recorded a quick video this week because of the holiday and because a story I read a few days ago reminded me that the principles behind #SellLikeYou are valid at the highest levels.

One of the best guitarists to ever play the instrument is struggling with the concept of filling Eddie Van Halen's shoes on tour. It's hard to blame him, but he's not afraid of the spotlight. What's bugging him is that his approach to the instrument is radically different.

He has to shut off what makes him great in order to play like the person that the audience wishes they could still see.

He's setting himself up for mediocrity in a way that most people would never face. It's fascinating.

Joe Satriani will never be Eddie Van Halen. He was never supposed to, and that's the point.

Look, it'll still be really good, and a lot of people will feel that their ticket money was well spent, but I'm not in a hurry to go and see it. It just doesn't feel right to me. I'd rather keep the memories from when I saw the real thing.

Trust yourself, and that little voice in the back of your head that guides your selling. It's never led you wrong.
